Lemon Balm is such a wonderful ally for these modern times.

The lemony, zesty taste of this herb evokes those feelings around a freshly made lemonade on a hot afternoon on holidays or from your childhood - things are light, playful, fun and you’re totally present and enjoying every sip and moment of your day…

So remember back to being a child, when you got lost in play, imagination and those seemingly endless summer days where you were free to run, jump, swim, dance, dress up and play to your hearts content.

Lemon Balm brings the essence of fun, lightness and play from our childhood back into our minds and hearts, especially when we’re starting to feel the strain, stress and anxiety from being an adult in a very serious, modern, fast-paced world!

There are 3 main intelligence centers, or ‘brains’, that Lemon Balm works in within the body:

  1. The brain - calming and settling a scattered and anxious mind. It helps to switch off the sympathetic stress response (fight & flight), and engage the parasympathetic response (rest & digest).

  2. The heart - calming and settling a racing, pacing, beating stressed/ anxious heart and pulse.

  3. The gut - Lemon Balm is often discussed as a key herb for the ‘gut-brain’ connection - where stress, anxiety and mood issues cause IBS or unwanted gut symptoms. Lemon Balm is wonderful at helping to calm and settle a wound up and stressed gut (e.g. bloating, diarrhoea, gut pain).

Due to this affinity with childhood, Lemon Balm is also such a fantastic herb for kids - not only due to its actions, but also the taste. It’s great for tummy troubles, especially if stress related, viral infections and fevers.

Enjoy the lightheartedness and fun Lemon Balm will bring back to your days!
