These Are for Some Summertime, Holiday Season Fun
There are several of the herbal tinctures I sell that are also incredibly wonderful in the creation of a delicious beverage.
I’ve often told someone buying a Rose Elixir or Citrus Bitters that they could also pop a few drops in with some tonic, soda water, gin or vodka, and top it with a gourmet cordial, cucumber slices or a sprig of Rosemary for some extra flavour & garnish - and people end up chuckling or a bit wide eyed that a naturopath is recommending such a thing!
The thing is, herbal medicine can be fun too.
And throughout time, lots of alcoholic drinks, liqueurs etc are actually kinda herbal medicines in disguise. Some examples include:
The Bitters in a ‘Lemon Lime and Bitters’ - blend of bitter and aromatic herbs such as gentian, clove, cinnamon, nutmeg.
Jägermeister - 56 herbs, fruits, roots, and spices e.g. anise, licorice, saffron, ginseng.
Campari & Aperol- Bitter aperitifs using combinations of herbs like gentian, rhubarb root (traditionally) and citrus peels.
My herbal extracts offered here are of a similar vein!
So yes, pop a few drops of any of these extracts into your drink of choice and enjoy some additional medicinal benefits, but also, have some fun with it, experiment with the flavours & colours, and enjoy yourself!
(Um, we could use it after the year thats been, yes?)
If there’s someone in your life who’s a foodie, loves a delicious drink or cocktail, hosting Christmas this year, is health conscious and prefers very low alcohol drinks - I’m confident there’s a combo of these extracts that will suit the tastebuds of just about anyone.
The Range:
Rose - a stunning Rose extraction sweetened with a hint of local raw honey.
Citrus Peel - fresh, light and aromatic, a blend of spray-free citrus peels collected locally over the winter months.
Flowers & Fruit - a blend of Rose (above), Hibiscus extract & organic pomegranate juice, offering a pink burst to enliven any drink!
Butterfly Pea - For adding stunning colour and fun to your drinks. Use as is for a beautiful purple-blue hue, or combine with citrus or an acidic agent to turn your drink pink.
Ginger - using local young ginger, just a few drops will have your drink bursting with that light, fresh and zingy ginger taste. It’s incredibly delicious.
**All created using organically or chemical-free homegrown or locally grown ingredients, filtered rain water and premium quality grape spirit.
Directions:
Shake well.
Place desired amount of drops into beverage of choice and enjoy.
**Note: ginger is a stronger extract and only needs 1-3 drops to fully flavour a drink.
Besides the Rose and Flowers & Fruit, these aren’t sweetened, which gives you full agency to leave them as is, or combine with some cordial, monk fruit/stevia drops or sugar syrup to sweeten them to your own definition of perfection.

No, all of these extracts contain alcohol, which is there as an integral part of the extraction process, and to preserve the product.
However, the amount of alcohol consumed per drop, whole dropper, and therefore per drink, is incredibly low.
These best suit the person who either drinks alcohol, or consumes low levels of alcohol.
Thinking about these like its similar to having a Lemon Lime Bitters. These will have a very (like, very) minimal influence on blood alcohol levels.
Some sums:
Consuming a whole dropper full (not 1 drop, a whole droppers worth) would have you consuming just under 1mL of extract.
This would contain anywhere from .25 to .5mL of alcohol.
0.5ml is the equivalent of 1/14th of a 1/4 tspn (tiny!).
This is even lower again if you’re only have a few drops, which is the recommended dose for the strong extracts such as ginger.
So not appropriate for anyone who totally avoids alcohol, but hopefully okay for most others :-)
